  1. Butter your baking tins and preheat your oven to 180 degrees
  2. In a bowl, sieve, flour, baking powder, baking soda and set aside
  3. In another bowl, beat sugar and margarine till combined at a medium speed
  4. Now put one egg at a time beating for 30 seconds each
  5. When combined add the vanilla and strawberry essence and the colour then beat again
  6. Now put half the flour mixture to the liquid mixture and half of the butter milk and beat and repeat for the remaining flour
  7. Pour into your prepared baking tins(I used 2 1kg tins) and bake for 30 mins at 160 degrees or till a skewer comes out clean
  8. Frost and decorate or enjoy it as it is with a beverage of your choice
